Sandra Maturana was awarded a grant in 2007 to study a Master degree in critical theatre studies and acting analysis, which was delivered by two British Universities, King´s College and The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA). Following her successful training in London, she began an interesting international trajectory, an everlasting search for new scenic languages and challenges.
In 2009, she was offered a part in the play ‘Danae’ at the Sadler´s Wells Theatre in London, an exploration with experimental theatre director Antón Mirto and designer Cristina Valls of the idea of metamorphosis from the myth of Danae. This same year she also played a role in ‘Epidemic’, an adaptation of Antigone of Sophocles, represented at the Southwark PlayHouse in London and the Athinais Theatre in Athens.
Shortly afterwards, the prestigious BAC's Scratch programme selects Maturana to carry out the project ‘A Spatial Discovery’, where she had only 20 days to write the script, find the actors, and to direct and create the 10 minute piece. It tells the story of three astronauts who are close to Jupiter and have a serious problem with the spacecraft, leading them to question their lives up to that moment in time.
In 2010, the cutting-edge computer simulated production ‘Peter Pan’ reaches London's O2, in which Maturana plays Tinker Bell. In this piece, the audience fly over iconic sights such as Saint Paul's Cathedral or the Tower of London.
The exhibition also presents her initiation in projects such as ‘La sombra de Alicia - Alice's shadow’, her Master's project which was chosen for the prestigious 2008 Edinburgh Theatre Festival within the work in progress framework created by Forest Café.
The showing of Sandra Maturana's trajectory following her Krea grant shall be shown from March 22 to June 22 at KREA's headquarters, in calle Postas 17, Monday to Friday from 09.00 to 14.00 and from 16.00 to 18.00.
